The Principal's visit to our class

The principal visited our class, and he told us about opportunites for this class, and how it can help us in the future. He asked who wants to take this class next year, unfortunately, there were only a couple people who want to take this class next year. Everyone else has problems getting enough credits, or there are scheduling conflicts. Mr. Lucas is going to try to clear this up, and he is also going to see if kids can be allowed to get certain math credits for being in this class.

Game Demo presentations

I was horribly nervous today during presentations!! I actually froze up in the beginning, I couldn't speak! But in the end, it all worked out. Nick helped me with the buttons and stuff, and he ran the slides for me. THANK YOU NICK!!!! Unfortunately, Kaylyn didn't show up today. She had strep throat:(
I have to make several changes to my game, starting with the drag-and-drop idea. I have to create a scene for that. Everything turned out pretty well, actually! Denise and Yvonne actually liked my idea! I'm hoping the rest of this game goes as well as the presentation did......

Switched around groups

There was a huge mess about a week ago. Two people had to leave the class, due to scheduling problems. So, two teams were left with only one person. Needless to say, they weren't much of a "team" anymore. One person went to Nick's team and another person went to another team in our class. It didn't really affect me.. at all.. but it affected several teams and presons in this class.

List a new idea or concept (not just a "fact") you've learned about your game topic since you started this course. How did you come to learn this? What sources where helpful to you in gaining this understanding? What makes these news or research sources especially informative and trustworthy?

I have learned many new concepts about my game since I started this course. A concept that I have decided to incorporate into our game is the adding of point values when the player picks the wrong foods, and subtracting points when the player pickes the right food. Also, the player will have to face consequences for picking the wrong food, such as running around a track. My Globaloria teacher suggested incorporating these concepts into our game, and we liked the ideas. Flash was really helpful, cause we learned how to use the trace tools, and Mr. Carroll has been helping us along the way. Mr. Carroll reviews our games, and the Flash tools is going to nelp us avoid copyright infringement.

Drawing a Scene on Flash

We've recently incorporated several new concepts into our Flash game. These include different groupings of food, and more interesting challenges and ways to excercise.
We came up with these new concepts with several suggestions from our teacher and classmates.
We used some help from our classmates and we will use the internet to help us research more about these new concepts and ideas.
These new concepts and ideas will be reliable because we will research more about them on the internet.  They are trustworthy because our teacher gave us several of the ideas.

FLASH

We've learned a lot of new things about Flash. Mr. Carroll's mentor came and showed us several new things that would make drawing easier in Flash. We've already made several scenes and I've found it a lot easier to use than I would have thought.

Video Blog

We are starting to work on our video blogs. Here are some details about our game:
1.The most important concept we want our players to learn is the importance of good health and nutrition.
2.Our individual ideas from "Imagining Your Game" came together easily because both of our ideas already had to do with health. We just elaborated on that and decided that our game topic should involve health and nutrition.
3.We worked out the specific details of our game. We set the challenge, obstacles, and the objective of the game together. We worked together on the paper prototyping, however we did separate blog assignments.
4.For our game topic, we will research the different food groups and the nutritional values of them. We will also research about the importance of excercise for the average child.
5.In our game, the player will be able to move backward and forward, left and right, duck, and jump. This has changed since we first started planning the game. We changed this because we realized that if we allowed the player to move in more ways, we could add more scenes and obstacles, thus enhancing the overall game experience.
6.We have not used Flash for our game so far. We have, however, went through several Flash tutorials, and these were all located on the wiki.
7.For me, paper prototyping has been the most difficult curriculum topic so far. I think it has been the most difficult because neither me nor my partner can draw very well. We overcame this after I started drawing more practical and smaller figures, and my partner colored over these pictures.
